Here is a tidbit of news to consider as you get ready to drive to your local convenience store in search of a hot dog, apple fritter or ice cream bar.

Baby boomers need to engage in more moderate-intensity aerobic activity, such as brisk walking. AP medical writer Lauran Neergaard reports that a new Associated Press-LifeGoesStrong.com poll finds baby boomers are more obese than other generations.

It’s great if you’re eating your vegetables, fruits, whole grains and non-processed foods. But diet alone is not an effective way to lose weight.

And consider health costs in the years and decades ahead. They’ll soar because obesity can lead to series conditions such as heart disease and diabetes.
