I am not an expert on exercise. I cannot say, in these blog pages, if one particular form of activity is better than the other. What I do know is many doctors and specialists have told me walking is great for the body. You don’t have to walk miles a day, 24/7.  Just pick a good, brisk walking routine and stick to it.

For the older baby boomer, there’s evidence that three brisk walks a week can do wonders for a funny-sounding part of the brain….the hippocampus. HealthDay reporter Jenifer Goodwin has the latest research.

Try these ideas: Park a bit away from your favorite shopping mall and take the few extra steps. Climb stairs instead of taking the elevator. Perform a brisk walk during your office lunch break. As the research shows, extra walking can improve your memory.
