You’re sitting down on the easy chair after dinner, getting ready to watch your favorite television show. During the drama or sitcom you see commercials featuring apples, oranges, lean meats, vegetables and whole-grain pastas. Likely scenario? Not really.

You’re more likely to see TV ads for burgers, milkshakes, cheese munchies and beer. How in the heck can you get inspired to lose weight when you’re peppered night after night with all of these commercials featuring salty and sugary treats?  Alice Park has a great piece at that explores research featured in the Journal of the American Dietetic Association.

One of my pet peeves is to see one of those (very) late-night commercials for take-out pizza, especially a week or so into a new diet. And what sounds better than pizza at 1 in the morning?
